Kia Launches Real-Time Location-Based Service Platform Across European Markets

Kia iis taking the next step in in-car connectivity by integrating 4screen software into its vehicles across nine European countries through a new software update, the automaker announced today.

The system, which displays branded pins on vehicle navigation screens, connects drivers with nearby businesses offering customized services and promotions, marking a significant advancement in automotive digital integration. Currently active in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, with planned expansion to additional markets.

“This digital service adds an extra layer of connectivity to deliver greater interaction between the driver and what’s on offer in their immediate surroundings,” explains Alexandre Papapetropoulos, Director Product and Pricing at Kia Europe.

He highlights potential benefits including free coffee at charging stations, hotel discounts, and real-time updates about extended store hours.

The platform differentiates itself from traditional navigation systems by displaying company logos on map pins and prioritizing businesses with active promotional campaigns in search results.

Key features include:

  • Branded pins with company logos
  • Detailed business information and promotions
  • Direct navigation to selected locations
  • Customizable category filters
  • User-controlled activation settings

Fabian Beste, Co-Founder & CEO of 4screen, emphasizes the partnership’s significance: “As 4screen continues to pioneer the future of connected mobility, our goal is to empower Kia drivers to unlock a world of personalized benefits at their fingertips.”

The implementation addresses safety concerns by displaying featured content only upon request, and drivers retain the ability to deactivate the service at any time. The update will be automatically delivered to eligible vehicles with over-the-air capability in the coming weeks.

The platform represents a strategic move in the growing connected car services market, offering:

  • Streamlined search functionality for services like charging stations and restaurants
  • Real-time promotional offers
  • Customizable user experience
  • Enhanced navigation capabilities

Industry analysts note this development aligns with broader trends in automotive connectivity, where manufacturers are increasingly focusing on integrating digital services that enhance the driving experience while maintaining safety and user control.
