Sheeva.AI and EV Connect Launch Massive In-Car Payment Network for Electric Vehicle Charging

Sheeva.AI and EV Connect have launched North America’s largest in-vehicle payment network for electric vehicle charging, enabling drivers to activate and pay for charging sessions at over 50,000 stations without leaving their vehicles, the companies announced at CES 2025 in Las Vegas.

The partnership leverages Sheeva.AI’s patented location technology with EV Connect’s charging management system to create a seamless “one-touch” payment experience similar to Plug & Charge (ISO 15118) standards. The system eliminates the need for drivers to use separate apps, credit cards, or QR codes when charging their vehicles.

“Keep in mind that the EV market is really a connected car market,” explained Evgeny Klochikhin, CEO and Founder of Sheeva.AI. “In-vehicle commerce, or what we call v-commerce, continues to gain traction with the car as a digital wallet on wheels.”

The SheevaConnectâ„¢ platform utilizes several key technologies:

  • SheevaLocateâ„¢: Embedded software providing vehicle location accuracy within two meters
  • SheevaFenceâ„¢: Proprietary geofencing for precise service location identification
  • SheevaPayâ„¢: Cloud-based contactless payment platform
  • SheevaServâ„¢: Cloud-based service activation system

“When we partnered with the Sheeva.AI team, our goal was straightforward: to make EV charging easier and faster for our customers,” said Cassie Layton, vice president of strategy and marketing at EV Connect. “We are excited to provide a solution that prioritizes simplicity, safety, and convenience as more EV drivers hit the road.”

The North American rollout coincides with Sheeva.AI’s expansion in Japan through partnerships with Hagiwara Electronics Co. Ltd. and charge point operator PLUGO Inc., indicating growing global adoption of in-vehicle payment systems.

The companies identified three critical components for successful v-commerce implementation:

  • Automotive sector participants as channel partners
  • Retailers and service providers seeking increased digital sales
  • Payment providers ensuring transaction simplicity

Beyond EV charging, the Sheeva.AI platform currently handles other v-commerce use cases like fueling, parking, tolling and curbside retail

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Tysons Corner, VA, Sheeva.AI maintains offices in Detroit, New Delhi, Dresden, and Nagoya. EV Connect, established in 2010, provides comprehensive EV charging solutions for various customers, including charge point operators, fleet operators, and utilities.
